Peaceful Parting

While she was traveling, Marilyn's husband, Jeff, canceled her credit cards. He also filed child endangerment charges against her. When she returned, authorities put her in a mental health care facility to protect her child. Marilyn was not insane, nor was she a danger to her child. Jeff was filing for divorce, and was legally positioning himself for control of their finances and custody of their young child.

Membership requirements for the Denton County Collaborative Professionals include:
  • Hold current membership in the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas;
  • Have your principal place of business in Denton County;
  • For lawyers, conduct a minimum of 25% of your practice in Family Law;
  • Pay annual dues of $100.00;
  • During the first two years of membership, complete the Basic Collaborative Law Training, and a CLI-TX interdisciplinary training;
  • Beginning with the first calendar year of membership, and each year thereafter, do at least one of the following:
    • Attend 6 hours of DCCP approved CLE; or
    • Attend at least 75% of DCCP monthly meetings
